(Lentinus edodes) Shiitakes are wonderful in many dishes and are an esteemed luxury in Asian and Japanese cuisine. Our Shiitake mushrooms are grown in the USA. They have a delicious meaty taste and texture and are rich in antioxidants and Vitamin D. They can be served in miso soup and also as an ingredient in many steamed and simmered dishes. In Thailand, they are fried as well as steamed. Their meaty texture, delicate flavor and distinctive fragrance lend a unique dimension to stir fries, stews, soups, sauces and stocks. Try sautéing them in a little extra virgin olive oil, moistened with demi-glace sauce and served with beef tenderloin. These Shitakes require about 20 to 30 minutes of soaking to for use in any recipe. Don't forget to strain and use the soaking liquid in your recipe. 1/2oz package. (Domestic mushrooms)
