The story: The birth of this truffle sauce is one of necessity, a necessity to hide the gatherer's shame from an unsuccessful hunt.
When the gatherer's came home with just a few truffles, apart from having to endure a scolding from their wives, needed to hide their shame from their companions.
They did this by saying they hadn't gone hunting truffles. But something had to be done with the few truffles they did find.
On Sunday people would invite their relatives over for dinner, and to make it seem as though there were plenty of truffles, they would cook them up with olives, capers, and anchovies.
Following this tradition Savini Tartufi has created this Gatherer's sauce with champignon mushrooms, olive oil, black olives, black truffle, capers, and salt.
The resulting sauce can be used on croutons, pasta, and chicken.
