Black Trumpet Mushrooms
Out of stock.
Sweet, earthy richness, buttery excellent in risotto, soups, stews and casseroles. Terrific with fish!
(Craterellus cornucopioides) "Black Trumpet Mushrooms" are also known as the "Horn of Plenty".
The flavor of this distinctive trumpet shaped mushroom is actually improved by drying.
They have a sweet, earthy richness that goes a long way to flavor soups, and stews and casseroles.
Their buttery flavor goes particularly well with fish dishes. The fresh to dried ratio is 12 pounds of fresh to 1 pound of dried.
To reconstitute: As a general rule soak in 8 oz. of warm water per ounce of mushrooms for 10 to 30 minutes, or put in the refrigerator overnight.
Strain liquid through a coffee filter or paper towel and use in recipes, to add even more flavor.
