Dark Chocolate Tea Bread

Dark and delicious, easy to make loaf.

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder
  • 1/3 cup Pure red Venezuelan cocoa powder *
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fine sea salt *
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup Whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup Dark chocolate, broken into bits *


  1. Combine dry ingredients and sift into a large bowl. 
  2. Beat together egg, milk, and butter.
  3. Add to first mixture and stir only until dry ingredients are moistened. 
  4. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, then turn out onto wire rack to cool.
