Father's Day 2010
“Fatherhood is pretending the present you love most is soap-on-a-rope.”
-- Comedian Bill Cosby
Although everyone seems to remember observing Father’s Day, the celebration has only recently become official. In 1966, President Johnson issued a proclamation honoring fathers and in 1972 President Nixon signed a bill designating the 3rd Sunday in June as a permanent National holiday.
Father’s Day is just about here, celebrated this year on Sunday, June 20th. Does the Big Man really want a new tie, socks or the soap-on-a-rope? Consider cooking a great meal for Dad. It has almost become an unofficial motto at Avanti Savoia, “Cook for the ones that you love.” The obvious suggestion is to fire up the grill, but he can do that for himself anytime. Breakfast in bed? messy, hard to eat and is that something that he would really enjoy?
We have a menu and recipes all ready for you to make this Father’s Day a meal and an occasion that Dad really will remember. This is a menu that can easily be prepared by a novice cook and can even involve cooking minded children. A little bit Italian and a little bit retro American and a whole lot delicious!
