Barbeque Shrimp

Messy to eat, but really, really worth it!  Adjust pepper level to your liking.


Items indicated with an astrisk (*) available for purchase in the Avanti Savoia store.

  • 1/2 pound Butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 pounds Fresh Shrimp in the Shell
  • 1/2 cup Dry White Wine or Beer
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic, minced and mashed
  • 1/2 teaspoon Basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper *
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • Juice of 1 Lemon


  1. Melt butter in a large cast iron skillet until it foams.  Add shrimp and cook over a medium high heat for 3 or 4 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Add wine, stir around to mix and then add all remaining ingredients.  Cook for another 8 to 10 minutes or until shrimp are done but not overcooked
  3. Serve Barbeque Shrimp in a large communal bowl or individual bowls with sauce laddled over.  Peel and eat New Orleans style with your hands.
